Code of Conduct
Jesuit Tampa Hockey is committed to developing student-athletes who compete with integrity, represent their school with pride, and embody the Jesuit value of being men for others. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all players, parents, and coaches to ensure a positive, respectful, and competitive environment.
Core Values
All members of Jesuit Hockey are expected to demonstrate:
- Respect – for teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and the game
- Accountability – for actions on and off the ice
- Discipline – in preparation, effort, and behavior
- Team First Mentality – placing the success of the team above individual goals
- Integrity – doing the right thing at all times
Player Expectations
Players represent Jesuit Hockey at all times and are expected to:
- Compete with effort, sportsmanship, and respect
- Follow all team, league (LHSHL & TSHL), and USA Hockey rules
- Attend games, practices, and team events as scheduled
- Communicate availability and commitments through TeamSnap
- Demonstrate discipline on the ice, avoiding unnecessary penalties or unsafe play
- Respect teammates, coaches, and officials at all times
- Maintain academic responsibility and uphold school standards
- Refrain from inappropriate behavior on social media
Parent & Family Expectations
Parents and families play a vital role in the program and are expected to:
- Support all players, not just their own
- Respect coaches’ decisions and the development process
- Refrain from criticizing players, coaches, or officials during games
- Allow coaches to coach and players to play
- Address concerns through appropriate communication channels (not during or immediately after games)
- Promote a positive and respectful environment
Coach & Staff Expectations
Coaches and team staff are expected to:
- Lead by example with professionalism and integrity
- Provide a safe, structured, and positive environment
- Be USA Hockey certified and SafeSport compliant
- Focus on player development, teamwork, and character building
- Communicate clearly and consistently with players and families
- Treat all players fairly and with respect
Game & Rink Conduct
All participants must:
- Respect officials and their decisions
- Demonstrate sportsmanship before, during, and after games
- Avoid abusive language, taunting, or unsportsmanlike behavior
- Follow all rink and league rules
Safety & Responsibility
- Player safety is a top priority at all times
- All players must use proper equipment and follow safety guidelines
- Unsafe or reckless behavior will not be tolerated
- All participants must adhere to USA Hockey and SafeSport standards
Communication Guidelines
- Team communication will be conducted through TeamSnap and email
- Players and families are expected to stay informed and respond when necessary
- Concerns should be addressed respectfully and through appropriate channels
Social Media & Public Conduct
All players and families represent Jesuit Hockey publicly and are expected to:
- Use social media responsibly
- Avoid posting negative, inappropriate, or disrespectful content
- Uphold the reputation of Jesuit Hockey at all times
Violations & Accountability
Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Reduced playing time or team discipline
- Suspension from games or team activities
- Removal from the program (in severe cases)
Disciplinary decisions will be made by the coaching staff and program leadership.
Commitment to the Program
By participating in Jesuit Tampa Hockey, players and families agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and contribute to a culture built on respect, discipline, and brotherhood.
